These images are small versions of the original. I reduced the image size so the web page will load quicker. These are pictures I took of the Himilaya mountains as we flew out of Kathmandu. The view from the plane was limited but I was lucky to get a clear view for quite a ways. The lack of definition in some of the pictures is gone when I look at my original full size photos. There are also views around the dusty town of Kathmandu, which is the capital of Nepal. They have a different alphabet, calendar year and of course, language. They use bicycles and motorbikes often as the streets are very narrow in the center of the city tourist area. Rush hour traffic was relatively quiet. Thailand can be very noisy with the lack of mufflers. The main temple on this page is known as the monkey temple or locally as Swayambhunath Stupa. This is a Buddhist temple. The predominant religion in Nepal is Hindu. Swayambhunath Stupa is one of the most important temples in Buddhism.

The peanuts are heated and/or cooked on this cart by placing an iron pot full of coals on the cart and burying it with peanuts. I wasn't sure I'd ever see someone carrying loads on their heads. Now I've seen it in Thailand and Nepal. These monks or pilgrims look a lot like rastafarians with their hair. The colors in the boxes are used to mark the heads of worshippers. I believe different colors have meanings.
