  PEPCO power outages

Georgia Avenue - Tornado Warning aftermath day.

Big storm the day before wiped out power sources for water and traffic signals.

All modes of transportation are shut down except Metro Rail.

These are scenes of Georgia Avenue. The heavy traffic is going south.

It is at a standstill as far as the eye can see.

This is a scene of the Sligo Creek bike trail.

The trail comes to a stop as a tree has fallen in the path.

Does every cloud have a silver lining?

So we went out and celebrated dads 85th birthday

A new storm a week or so later. Not as strong but heavy rain for a long time. Power was only out for about 12 hours.

This is out my back door thru the path that leads to the park. Creek is visible just beyond the road.

This is a playground that is not normally surrounded by water. There is a small 3 foot wide creek nearby usually. This day was not usual. The water level dropped 3 feet in about an hour. This was probably at the peak level.

Traffic signals were out in a widespread area, again, causing traffic to snarl. The light ahead usually would have 3 or 4 cars backed up.

Shots of the raging creek thru the trees.

A big tree couldn't hold on with the soil so soggy.

Water was as far as the eye could see.

This tree was just blown down by the force of the wind.
